We took a family road trip this past weekend to Flagstaff, Grand Canyon and Las Vegas.
Here are some of my tips and recommendations if you’re looking to head out that way…
We first stopped in Kingman, AZ to have lunch with family.
We ate at Cracker Barrel which had a GREAT gift shop (there’s an advantage to eating here rather than somewhere else)
Then on to Flagstaff where we stayed at Little America Hotel.
We all LOVED it there.
Set in 500 acres of Ponderosa Pine forest, Little America Flagstaff is a haven from the mundane. Inviting hospitality combined with the natural beauty and serenity of Northern Arizona will instill a passion to return to this distinctive resort.
Hotel amenities include:
- Full-service Restaurant and lounge
- Little America Grill
- Heated Outdoor Pool (open seasonally)
- Fitness Center
- 24-hour Travel Center
- Room Service
- Gift Shop
- Garage Services (Northern Arizona Tire)
- Kidsโ Playground
- Wireless Internet
- Concierge Services
- Coin Operated Facilities
- ATM
- Volleyball (available upon request)
- Horseshoes (available upon request)
- Badminton (available upon request)
There is a private hiking trail on the property (a 2-mile loop)
The grounds and pool are all lit up at night, it’s beautiful.
While there we went to the Pennywise concert, which was at this awesome outdoor venue, Pepsi Amphitheater at Fort Tuthill Park

When we left Flagstaff, we headed up to the Grand Canyon.
On the way out, we found a great gift shop on the side of the road, thanks to the family with the lemonade stand out front!

Once in the Grand Canyon,
We first took a tour on the free shuttles to Hermits Rest, then took a (paid) Sunset Tour.
You can read about the tours, check pricing and book here.
As you can see from the picture below, the views were STUNNING!
This picture was taken from the Sunset Tour, you can see a little peak of the Colorado River down below!

When we left the Grand Canyon the next morning, we decided to stop at Bearizona after my friends highly recommended it,
and we are all SO glad we did!

We then headed off to Las Vegas!
We stayed at the Golden Nugget since they have a shark tank with a 3-story water slide through it.
I knew my son would like to see the shark tank and would be something exciting for him there!
We stayed in the Rush Tower, and I’ve gotta say, I would highly recommend it.
Apparently we had a Gold Club suite which includes the following amenities:
These contemporary retreats are all non-smoking and feature plasma screen televisions, upgraded linens, oversized deep soaking bathtubs, marble vanities and elegant decor boasting rich woods and leather sofas. Each Rush Tower Gold Club room at our premier Las Vegas Hotel includes the following privileges:

- Complimentary spa/workout facility passes
- Complimentary turn-down service
